BASS ADJUSTMENT is an international musical collaborative initiated in 2006 by composer/songwriter/producer Rahá Poostchi. His talent pool is drawn from an array of unique artists from all over the world who come together to merge various musical styles from House to Pop, Worldbeat, Funk, RnB, Dance and Jazz with influences from Oriental, Latin and African music – always expressing the fundamental principle of Unity in Diversity.
BASS ADJUSTMENT released their first album, ‘The Style Is To Be Changed‘, in 2013. By 2014, the collaborative had released its single ‘Strive‘, their latest Funky House track ‘Feel As One‘ and the EP ‘Feel As One (Remixes)‘. 2015 was a big year for BASS ADJUSTMENT with 4 new releases: ‘K Signature‘ is an instrumental track written as the signature sound for a friend’s company; ‘Let In The Light‘ is a soulful dance track with a focus on meeting prejudice with love & light and was accompanied by the release of ‘Let In The Light (The Layabouts Remix)‘ which reached the Top 3 in the Traxsource Soulful House charts; ‘My House‘ – a blend of ambient, soul and house music spreading the important message of peace. In 2016 they released the Soulful House track ‘Why‘ and ‘Believe‘. BASS ADJUSTMENT’s latest track is ‘Unity In Diversity (All In Together Now)‘.
While the members of BASS ADJUSTMENT are fluid with each new project, they all have one thing in common: a sense of profound identity as citizens of the world. It comes as no surprise, then, that on their debut album musical contributions were drawn from every continent in the world. Nonetheless, highlighting some of their core members relays a sense of their profound diversity. In their 20s and mostly 30s, these include:
Rahá – Founder and creative director of BASS ADJUSTMENT. Most tracks are composed by Rahá and develop under his creative direction. As part of his process, he often hands an entire aspect of a track over to another member to develop with creative autonomy. A business consultant when he’s not in the studio, Rahá derives a lot of inspiration from his Persian background. His influences include: Michael Jackson, Kool & the Gang, Earth Wind & Fire, Soul, Funk, House, Ethnic & World music, 70s and 80s.
Tobi Akinbiyi aka Tobeatz – Born in Austria and Nigerian of decent, this Producer by profession splits his time between rapping in Europe and producing in Africa, where he owns and runs one of Nigeria’s most successful studios. Tobeatz’s musical influences include: all kinds of music from the 70s & 80s, 80s & 90s HipHop and RnB, Nirvana, The RZA (Wu Tang), Timbaland, Max Martin and Jermaine Dupri.
Karim Bousbia aka Ice – As its youngest member, co-producer and sound-engineer, Karim, brings a youthful energy and vision to BASS ADJUSTMENT. The entrepreneur with Algerian roots is responsible for the technical mixing and mastering of sound. His musical preferences are found in: Hip-Hop, House, Pop, Dr. Dre and Red One.
Chris Ramones T. aka C-Rock – Model, DJ and videographer Chris was responsible for the production of BASS ADJUSTMENT’s first music video to their single ‘Strive’. The talented visual artist with a Filipino background grew up with the musical influences of: pop music from the 80s and 90s; specifically Michael Jackson, R&B, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, reagga, dancehall and NEW Jack Swing.
The collaborations of BASS ADJUSTMENT extend well beyond its specific formation. They socialize as friends, they make musical CDs for kids (with an educational twist) and they share a common vision for community building on a local and global level:
“Most of us got together when we played basketball/streetball every day in 1995. That’s when our bonds were forged. But it wasn’t until years later, almost 20, that we got back together and discovered and pursued our shared passion: promoting and living out unity in diversity through music…” says Rahá Poostchi, Founder of BASS ADJUSTMENT.
